Passwords

Protecting passwords is an important part of any security scheme. I've covered this account's password back up, but you may wish to be more careful in the future.

• I realized shortly after I posted that code that it contained the password for JargonBot, which is why I removed the password from the code that appears on the page in question, though apparently the original that I uploaded, with the password intact, remains in the version history. I am, indeed, a pretty big moron for not anticipating that, as the ability to easily undo deletions and changes is kinda what makes a wiki a wiki. With any luck I won't be quite so stupid and lackadaisical in the future, now that this site has apparently been discovered. Also, any other friendly neighborhood hackers, please note: JargonBot's password has been changed. Thanks again for the heads-up, HMFIC 07:22, 21 December 2007 (EST)
